According to IEWY News, Intel has invested in an additional 2.5 billion kilowatt hours worth of renewable energy credits. Slated to have completed the full amount of renewable energy credits before the end of 2011, Intel is making a huge show of faith in solar energy in Arizona with one of its main offices located right here in the Valley of the Sun. Using these credits allows the Intel Corporation to provide 100% clean solar energy to its offices in Arizona, New Mexico, California, and even Israel.
Not only does this make a huge difference in lowering Intel’s carbon footprint, it also incentives other large corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, and everyday American consumers to go the way of solar energy in Arizona and beyond.
As one of the world’s largest technology companies, Intel is also engaging in research and development of smarter ways to create and use energy, making their new level of commitment that much more important and visible. New ideas from Intel for the development of the Smart Grid, “embedded sustainability,” and international investment in green energy send a clear message to the world: Green is not the future and solar energy is not some mythical technology –it’s here today, and it’s here to stay.
