This is important in the same way it’s important to hire a licensed contractor to build an addition to your home–if he or she is not licensed, you could be left with serious issues they can’t or won’t tend to when the dust settles or if you have issues with your installation, equipment, or service.

    2. Does the company offer warranties on solar equipment in Phoenix? If so, do they have a track record of honoring those warranties? Does the warranty cover both the equipment and the installation/performance? At Adair Solar Company in Mesa, all of this is warrantied extensively–up to 12 years.

    3. Does the solar equipment provider and local Phoenix solar installer you have chosen have a record with the Better Business Bureau? If so, is it good? Adair Solar is proud of its 35 years of service with a BBB rating of excellent.

    4. Does the solar company in Phoenix you’re considering have the Financing Seal of Approval? Adair Solar does. Solar energy in AZ Gabby Giffords

    Rep. Giffords steps down

While we obviously completely understand why Gabrielle Giffords would step down from her post in Congress, we are so saddened to hear the news. Representative Giffords has been the most important spokesperson for solar energy use in Arizona for years. She has been the steadfast supporter of the solar industry in Arizona who was really able to move the mail, even with heavy opposition in her wake. According to the Phoenix Business Journal article written by Patrick O’Grady,

“Arizona’s representation doesn’t have another solar champion in Congress. In fact, the industry has run into some opposition of solar development from within those ranks. Sen. Jon Kyl has repeatedly questioned solar on the grounds that concentrated plants use too much water in the arid desert.

Industry insiders say Arizona is succeeding despite the lack of support from many elected officials, but losing Giffords could be a blow the nascent industry can ill afford to have. It also might make the races for House next year a little more interesting depending on who steps in to fill the seat.”

Arizona needs a mover and a shaker who can help eradicate the abysmal ignorance about solar energy and how it works–not just literally, but how it works for our local economy, savings to working families who need it, and how rooftop solar panels on Arizona homes can dramatically reduce our carbon footprint as a state and indeed improve the standard of living in the Valley of the Sun.

If you are a proponent for the use of solar energy in Arizona, please, contact our existing congresspersons and let them know how you feel. It’s so important that politicians understand that their constituencies here in Arizona DO support solar initiatives. If they didn’t then thousands of them per year would not be installing solar water heaters in Phoenix and solar panels on their homes all across the state.

The time to act is now–think of Gabby Giffords and her valiant fight for solar energy in Arizona. She would not want us giving up or giving in now!

    solar panels in Phoenix

How old will ideas of solar energy have to be before they're considered mainstream and NOT alternative?

[[Call today for your free in-home consultation for a solar installation from Adair Solar Company in Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Tempe, and beyond by calling (480) 827-1162.]]

While doing some online research about solar energy in Phoenix, AZ, we stumbled across an article from the Glasgow Herald dated October 7, 1957 thanks to Google’s super innovative and cool new feature for finding old documents–kind of like microfiche right at your fingertips. So why would we choose to write about something that was published more than 50 years ago? To make a point about the life and times of solar energy, of course!

The article, which you can read by clicking here, discusses how solar energy can help the Russian space program, which at the time was certainly in its fledgling stage to say the least. While the language and the mission for solar energy written about here is clearly archaic in nature, it proves a point: people have known that the sun can provide us with power for decades upon decades. So why is it that solar energy in Phoenix, or in other parts of the United States is seen as some sort of “new agey” thing that only scientists on the fringes of human communities have been working on in their basements for like two years?

It’s a question worth asking because it’s just that kind of thinking that has people in the dark–literally and figuratively. When giant government-backed projects like Solyndra crash and burn, it isn’t because solar power is the demon seed of a liberal movement–it’s because it was a poorly strategized COMPANY, not a poorly strategized form of energy delivery.

So if you’re on the fence about solar energy, time to get down. Chances are, if you’re reading this blog, the article about solar energy we found from 1957 was probably written before you were born–which means people have had the idea of harnessing the sun for energy on their minds for an awfully long time. It also means that those very people and their colleagues were even then concerned about the longevity of nonrenewable resources. After all, we have been calling them nonrenewable for long enough to know that by not being able to renew them, eventually, they would run out.

    Echo PV in Phoenix

    Installing Echo PV

We are so excited to announce our newest item in solar technology that we now provide for residents of the Phoenix Metro Area. It’s called Echo PV, or Echo Photovoltaic. What does this mean and what’s the difference between Echo and other PV products? Let us tell you :)

Echo PV is a groundbreaking technology in the world of renewable energy and solar technology. It does far more than harness the sun for energy–it stores it, and helps your home use the energy in the most efficient possible ways so that the highest amount of good is achieved. Echo PV is extremely unique because it collects more than light–it also collects air!

So what the heck would that do for your home? It seems curious because you’ve probably never heard of anything like it before. But here’s how it works: The air  that meets with the roof surface of your home typically sweeps right over you, going, well, with the wind :) But when you have Echo PV installed as part of your rooftop solar installation in Phoenix, wind is gathered and used to refresh the ventilation in your home as well as heat and cool the air in your home AND even the water in some homes.

Echo PV is a tremendous technology that can be paired with a solar water heater in Phoenix to dramatically reduce the cost of living and lower your electricity bills by enormous factors. When you have a solar technician from Adair Solar Company in Phoenix come out to your home for a free in-home consultation, he or she can tell you exactly how much your installation will cost (if anything) based on which Arizona solar tax credits and solar rebates you are eligible for.

It’s fast, simple, green, increases the value of your home, lowers your bills, and makes the world we’ve created a little more sustainable. You can’t go wrong! Call us today to hear more about Echo PV in Phoenix or any of our other solar products and services in Phoenix and beyond! Dial (480) 827-1162 to hear more today!

ASU Polytechnic solar project in Mesa

    ASU Polytechnic

[[Call today for your free in-home consultation for a solar installation from Adair Solar Company in Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Tempe, and beyond by calling (480) 827-1162.]]

The ASU campus offshoot here in Mesa, AZ known as ASU Polytechnic will be adding to its already revered name with a solar panel project in support with SRP (Salt River Project, a local utility company, for those of you not in the area.)

According to MarketWatch, “The ASU solar plant will be the third commercial-scale solar facility in the Valley of the Sun to provide energy for SRP. Recently, SRP reached an agreement to purchase the output of a 19-megawatt solar photovoltaic plant in Queen Creek. Copper Crossing – a 20-megawatt facility located in Pinal County and designed and built by SunPower – began providing energy for SRP’s Community Solar program last year. More than 100 schools in 11 Valley school districts are tapping into the power of the sun from that plant to offset a portion of their electric needs through the program. Community Solar is also open to residential customers, allowing customers to invest in solar energy without the upfront costs or maintenance of a rooftop system.

The SRP board of directors has set a goal to meet 20 percent of SRP’s retail electricity requirements through sustainable resources by the year 2020. The goal increases each year until 2020. For the most recent fiscal year, SRP exceeded the 5 percent goal, providing about 9 percent of retail energy needs with sustainable resources including wind, solar and geothermal energy, hydro power and conservation and energy-efficiency measures.”

As a local solar company, Adair Solar Company in Mesa supports this effort, and as we always say, it’s this kind of larger scale commercial and government investment in solar energy in Arizona that sparks consumer interest and makes homeowners open their eyes about the possibilities for solar in their own homes. No amount of advertising is worth what this kind of large-scale activity in the solar world is worth. It’s “world of mouth” that makes the difference here, and we urge all Phoenix homeowners to take their cue from this kind of news. The monthly savings for homeowners who have solar panels in Phoenix is simply remarkable.

We invite you to join us and find out about your Phoenix solar tax credits and rebates today! Call us today for a FREE in-home consultation at (480) 827-1162.

    rooftop solar panels in Phoenix

Habitat for Humanity homes with solar panels rock!

Jimmy Carter’s Habitat for Humanity has been doing so much good for poverty-stricken families for decades. We never thought that Habitat for Humanity would be able to outdo itself with all that it already brings to members of our communities in need. But they have! By installing solar panels on Habitat homes, this organization isn’t just helping to lower the bills for the family that will reside in the home, it is lowering their carbon footprint, enhancing the value of the home itself, and making the kind of green choice that will inspire home dwellers to think green for perhaps the first time in their lives.

According to AZ Central, the new owner of this Habitat for Humanity home, Fatima Martinez, and her three-year-old son, are thrilled. Martinez was already overjoyed to get out of a small apartment and into a home where her young son would have his own bedroom and plenty of space to play–but when she was told how much money she would save by using these Phoenix solar panels, she realized she’d be paying less than a quarter of what she paid for electricity in her tiny apartment!

For any home, rooftop solar panels in Phoenix just make good common sense. The savings per month on utilities costs are truly remarkable, and being able to afford a solar installation in Phoenix is not a stretch on the pocket book with the kinds of solar tax credits and Arizona solar rebates available to those who own their own homes here in Phoenix and the rest of the valley.

For those of you ready to explore your choices in solar energy, we encourage you to have a visit with one of our solar technicians. There’s no cost to you, and you’ll find out all about how much you’ll save with a solar water heater in Phoenix, and which solar tax credits and rebates you will qualify for. Let us set up an appointment for you today! Just call (480) 827-1162.

rooftop solar panels in AZThe AZ Daily Sun reported a pretty neat story about solar panels on a church in Flagstaff, so we had to check it out. The community, members of the church, and others got together to make rooftop solar panels a reachable goal for the church, called the Flagstaff Federated Community Church.

The AZ Daily Sun reported, “About a year and a half ago he and church employee Rachel Davis were struck by another idea: What about solar panels, to replace the church’s $800 per month electric bill? So they spent more than 500 hours over a year and a half getting bids, testing out the idea, crunching numbers and pitching the proposal to the congregation. Now, 132 solar panels manufactured in California are going up at the church just west of Flagstaff’s downtown public library, courtesy of about $37,000 in donations from some of the 250 active members of the church, a $120,000 loan from the Presbyterian Church, and a $20,000 rebate from Arizona Public Service.”

While of course we love and appreciate the separation of church and state, this is one cool place where government programs in the form of rebates and tax credits can lower the cost and lower the carbon footprint of something that locals who live in this community are taking advantage of anyway. The rebate from APS is not something that would just be reserved for a church or any business–APS regularly gives incentives to Arizona residents to make rooftop solar panels on homes in Phoenix and beyond far more feasible for homeowners across the Valley of the Sun.

We’re proud to be operating in a state where solar energy is being taken more seriously as an energy source worth its weight in gold. When you’re ready to install solar panels on your home, call Adair Solar Company in Mesa, AZ for your FREE in-home solar consultation!

According to Michael dEstries of ecorazzi.com (good gossip–we love it!) Patrick Dempsey is a star on the rise in the world of solar energy. Destries had this to say about Dempsey’s solar energy efforts:

“Back in June, Patrick Dempsey announced that global solar panel manufacturer Trina Solar would not only become a sponsor of his Dempsey Racing team – but also work with him to launch a new clean energy charity.”

Dempsey himself was quoted as saying, “I’m [sic] motivated by a personal interest in solar power as an energy solution.”

You can view the short film starring “McDreamy” here–and we think what he and Trina Solar are doing is especially dreamy!

Dempsey discusses the fact that so many people (billions with a ‘b’) are living in a world where the sun shines every day, but where electricity is scarce if it exists at all. He makes a great point–why should it be so easy for some of us to be able to take something as vital as electricity for granted when so many on this Earth don’t have access to it at all? Take a moment and imagine your life without electricity at all…

Now, thankfully, the “trend” of solar energy is coming on fast and furious. And here in Arizona things are no different. We live in a community whereby using solar energy we could save enough money on energy overall that the residuals could be used toward all kinds of good–be it housing those in need, educating young people, or providing health care to the needy.

We love this message from Patrick Dempsey and we love that more and more celebrities are getting behind solar solutions like his projects with Trina.

We hope you feel the same and that you will give–and that you will entertain seriously making 2012 the year you install rooftop solar panels on your home in Phoenix and beyond.

This is our planet–it’s time to commit to its future!
