businesses that use solar in AZWe always love to hear about a commercial enterprise here in the Valley of the Sun going green. In this case, Fresh & Easy is our Tip of the Hat winner of the week! Fresh & Easy is by now well known for the great deals it doles out on fresh fruit, veggies, and other groceries–it’s sort of come to be known as the thinking Millennial’s grocery store of choice.

So when we heard that our local Fresh & Easy store locations were going solar, we were pleased as punch–very well priced punch :)

So here are some details. According to Lynn Ducey’s new article in The Phoenix Business Journal, “Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has had solar panels placed on 10 of its Valley stores, including locations in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Avondale.  REC Solar installed the panels this week. At each site, an in-store display reports real-time energy production while showing customers how solar systems work.”

10 stores! Wow. Now that’s great news in solar energy for Phoenix. As we’ve said so many times in the past, it’s great when local companies and corporations install solar panels in Phoenix because it inspires local home owners to install rooftop solar panels in Phoenix and/or begin to seriously consider it as an option for their home. When we hear from home owners who have become interested in solar panels because of something they saw Walmart, Target, or Ikea doing with solar energy here in the desert, it’s so inspiring. It just goes to show that powerful movement toward green and renewable energy sources is contagious.

We want to help you catch the solar bug! Call us for your free in-home consultation today. Phoenix solar water heaters, solar panels, KVAR, radiant barrier and more! AND, you probably don’t even know it, but there’s a VERY high chance you qualify for solar tax credits and rebates for solar installations that could drop the cost to ZERO or very close to that. beat Arizona heatWell, it’s hardly ever any surprise to those who do not dwell in our urban desert that it’s hot here in the summer. It’s what we’re known for–the Grand Canyon, cacti, ridiculous heat. That said, there does come a time when even we think, “Hey, this temperature for this time of year? That’s a bit much even for Arizona!”

This late summer is such an instance. Now that we’re heading into September, we here in the Phoenix metro area are currently experiencing temperatures in the teens–the hundred-and-teens! Speaking to an area soccer mom today, we heard about real concern, “I’m out here watching my kid at a practice–I’m in the shade and it’s barely 11am and I feel like I’m going to faint… so I’m pretty concerned for my 12-year-old who’s running up and down an entire soccer field in this wicked heat.”

It is a very real concern, and we urge all parents to please watch your kids closely at this time of year. With school sports and other outdoor activities for kids beginning, it’s time to stay very aware of out water intake, how much time we’ve spent outside, and when we don’t NEED to be outside, we should be INSIDE.

This is especially important for the very young and the elderly, and the caretakers of both. And when we say stay inside, we don’t mean keep your home like a meat locker. In fact, it can actually have adverse effects on the human body for it to be too cold in your home–going from 115 to 68 is not healthy, and such temperature swings can bring on colds and other illness.

Stay cool, not freezing. And if you want to see improvement on the health of your home too, cool it with Phoenix rooftop solar panels. That way, you’ll avoid heat stroke AND unecessary stress!

solar panels in PhoenixA 13-year-old boy, Aidan Dwyer, has discovered something about solar panel arrays that even industry moguls and solar pundits hadn’t really looked into. What? Well, the basic gist of Aidan’s idea is that flat solar panels could be more efficient if they weren’t… well, flat. Based on his own research in a project he conducted in his own backyard, Aidan found that solar panels modeled more after the looks of tree branches would gather more sunlight and be more efficient.

The design of his solar array type is rumored to be more efficient by 50 percent in certain layouts given a variety of variables. So you can understand why he went ahead and got himself a provisional patent for his idea!

More than the success of Aidan’s idea is the show of how interested the upcoming generations are in clean, green energy and renewable resources. Young minds taking their nights and weekends to rethink solar energy? Wow. Get the kid next door with the go-cart hobby to come over and we’ll have a smart car to compete with the Volt in a couple of weekends!

It’s inspiring to those of us who have been in the solar industry for decades. But it’s not just refreshing. Even if Aidan’s ideas don’t wind up completely reshaping the way we all think about solar panels and solar arrays, he’s given a good jolt to the big dogs who we can assure you are having some interesting brainstorming sessions fueled more with coffee than solar energy.

Way to shake it up Aidan! Keep dreaming and innovating–and hang on to that patent!

It’s been a known fact for a while now that solar energy and other sources of renewable energy are on the rise due to popular demand, savings, and how they make our lifestyles more efficient and lower our carbon footprints. But it wasn’t really until the devastating earthquake that hit Japan a few months ago that we came to understand there was a more urgent importance to solar energy, wind energy, and other sources of renewables germane to specific locales.

    Arizona renewable energy sources

Put the desert sun to use!

In the aftermath of the nuclear power plant tragedy in Japan, there was much speculation as to whether or not Japan would move toward a different source of energy to power its many consumer and commercial needs. Indeed, the Japanese Prime Minister almost immediately began investigating solar energy options for the island country. It’s no surprise that today–just a few short months later–Japan has settled any debate and decided that solar energy is something it will move toward quickly and furiously.

Why not? Solar energy never runs out… unless you eradicate the sun, which isn’t very likely, at least not any time soon! Solar energy is cheap! You don’t have to dig up coal, mine, drill for oil, or otherwise go bananas extracting energy sources from the ground. The sun is right there. All you have to do is harness it with the right solar installation. Period. The end!

Here in Arizona the sun is in endless supply–as a populace on the whole, we’d literally be crazy not to be using the sun to benefit us both financially and with regard to saving our environment. Solar rebates and solar tax credits make it possible for solar installations in Phoenix to be installed on the cheap–AND they pay for themselves in such a small time frame even at full cost it would still be a little crazy not to do it :)

Ready to check out your solar installation options in Phoenix? Call Adair Solar Company in Phoenix to get started with a free in-home consultation. You’ll be so excited when the next *tiny* utility bill comes in!

    Affordable Solar Installations in Phoenix!

Many people have preconceived notions about the upfront and long-term costs of solar energy in Phoenix and the rest of the Valley area. The truth of the matter is that the upfront cost is getting lower all the time due to solar tax credits and solar rebates in Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe, and beyond.

Often, people have heard rumors and myths about solar energy systems and they have even perhaps been told that the installation process is lengthy, not affordable, and that the overall savings aren’t worth the cost in the end. NOT TRUE!

If you have an Adair Solar Company in Mesa come out to your home for a free solar equipment installation consultation you will find out exactly what your unique cost will be—you may even be surprised to hear that your upfront cost is ZERO or very close to zero dollars.

Let us dispel the myth of how long it takes to do a solar panel or solar water heater installation in Phoenix. Once our consultation agent has come out to your house to give you your estimates, a solar technician can be out to your install in less than a week. Once they have arrived with your solar equipment, the installation will take the better part of a morning or afternoon—and you’re all done!

Phoenix is one of the most common sense places to make use of solar energy because of the natural abundance of sunshine. While solar energy can be quite effective in places like New Jersey and other geographical locations, it just makes darn good sense to use a resource that NEVER dies out, never has to be replaced, and will never let you down because the sun does not require any charging or power from any other source :)

So if you’re ready to make the common sense move here in the Valley of the Sun, call Adair Solar Company in Mesa today to set up your free in-home consultation.

    solar incentives in Arizona

    Would you vote for this?

According to an August 11th Earth Teching article, “Solar advocates want to get Arizona voters to decide that state should create new incentives for solar power installations. The Arizona Solar Power Society (ASPS) just submitted the initiative to the Arizona secretary of state. Now the group says it needs to raise $1.2 million in order to collect the more than 170,000 signatures it needs over the next year to place the initiative on the 2012 ballot.”

So what does this mean for you as an Arizona energy consumer and/or home owner? Well, you may likely be able to vote for a new solar incentive that would make it possible for energy consumers to release their solar energy credits back to the state of Arizona. What the heck does that mean? It means that by giving your solar energy credits to your state you would then enable Arizona to locate buyers like SRP and APS and others so that they can lessen the effects of the overall Arizona carbon footprint (by way of balancing out the carbon emissions we create here in the Valley of the Sun and other regions of the state.)

In order to get this solar incentive onto ballots where you can vote for it, nearly 200,000 of your signatures will be required (as Earth Teching mentions.) So are you for or against such a proposition? To find out more about what it means in more detail, check out the ASPS press release that discusses the amount of wattage that solar arrays generate and more. Click here for the link.

Adair Solar Company in Mesa wants to hear your thoughts on this proposed action and find out if you think this is a good idea and a square deal for Arizonans! Give us a call when you’re ready to install your rooftop solar panels or get radiant barrier insulation installed during the hottest month of the year! (480) 827-1162.

rooftop solar panels in PhoenixWow, science really never stops moving. And solar energy is at the head of the pack when it comes to new innovations. But when we read a recent story from Science Daily, we knew we were looking into the eyes of what could be the new kid on the block that really is a game changer. Solar panels, as it turns out, could be a great way to create AND store hydrogen energy. Now that’s a big, big deal–hydrogen energy is 100% clean, very powerful, and those who have been trailblazers in the hydrogen energy field can attest to the fact that it is THE holy grail in terms of all-time best energy sources.

According to Science Daily, “Instead of systems based on standard solar panels, Duke engineer Nico Hotz proposes a hybrid option in which sunlight heats a combination of water and methanol in a maze of glass tubes on a rooftop. After two catalytic reactions, the system produces hydrogen much more efficiently than current technology without significant impurities. The resulting hydrogen can be stored and used on demand in fuel cells.”

One of the main complaints about hydrogen-fueled vehicles to this point has been that the hydrogen used to power such vehicles would have to come from nonrenewable resources, which obviously completely cancels out the whole transaction, rendering it relatively worthless. But by harnessing the power of the sun through solar panels on any residential home, it might now be not out of the realm of reality for a hydrogen car to be powered right from fuel cells that feed it from rooftop solar panels.

This might not be right around the corner, but it’s not science fiction. With the solar movement swooping across the globe, it’s creating all kinds of buzz about deep green communities, net-zero and net-positive homes and communities. The idea of sunshine showering us with more gifts in the way of endless energy is like manna from heaven–especially during a time of such severe economic duress.

Become part of the solution painlessly. Get rooftop solar panels installed on your Phoenix, Mesa, or Scottsdale home–or anywhere else in the metro area. Call us today for a FREE in-home consultation. (480) 827-1162

    solar panels save money

We assume you enjoy keeping this :)

We hear a lot from our clients during our in-home solar consultations. One of the main things we hear once homeowners have signed on and truly understand the value of rooftop solar panels and solar water heaters in Phoenix is what they thought solar was about before understanding the ins and outs. So, for our blog audience, we thought we’d make it a little easier before we come to your home–why not know now why solar is the best option for your Phoenix home?

Here are 5 fantastic reasons to get solar panels for your home in Phoenix:

    1. The Phoenix metro area is blessed not just with year-round sunny days, it’s also got other exceptional variables at play that make it an ideal solar spot. Some of those factors include a high altitude, and higher temperatures. When you piece this trifecta together you greatly strengthen the power of solar panels and the energy they generate. So that’s the first reason you can’t say no to solar equipment in Phoenix :)

    2. The options you have for financing a solar installation in Phoenix will lower your cost down to nothing or very close to nothing. We’re not talking about magic beans here either–we’re talking about bona fide solar tax credits and rebates from both the state and federal governments. No bait and switch business here.

    3. Solar panel installations in Phoenix increase the value of your home–recent news sources suggest that valley homes can increase in value by about 3% just from having rooftop solar panels and a solar water heater in Phoenix. So… pay nothing, save money, and increase the value of your home. Not enough incentive yet? Okay, here are two more reasons…

    4. The cost of electricity is continually on the rise with no signs of dropping. So while your neighbors struggle with their a/c bill, you will be running an efficient home that saves money every single month. And don’t think this is just in the summer. Because your solar water heater doesn’t require electricity to run, feel free to take piping hot showers and baths all winter long–while you wash away the stress of your utilities bills.

    5. And last but certainly not least, solar system installations in Phoenix are good for both our national economy and the planet. Green energy like solar power is the source for hundreds of thousands of new jobs (just Google “green collar jobs” for evidence), it lowers the cost of living for consumers in a time of economic crisis, it lowers consumer carbon footprints, and reduces the waste from public and private sector endeavors.

You may as well be saying no to a sack of cash someone left on your doorstep.

Don’t be silly–call us today for your FREE in-home solar consultation! (480) 827-1162 and let us bring these 5 great reasons to life in your home!

solar installations in PhoenixWell, since you’re in Arizona and probably not tapped into the mainstream of East Coast energy companies, you may have thought we were talking about a hip hop artist. But, in fact, NRG is an energy mogul from New Jersey, and they have paired up with our fellow Sun Devils to create a more than two megawatt solar installation right next to the ASU stadium.

The Arizona Sun Devil Stadium solar project is being called PowerParasol will create solar power that our state’s university will pay for (a flat rate only). Because the project is being headed up by some of the industry’s most experienced and heavy hitting minds, you can bet it will be state of the art.

This Tempe, Arizona solar project will begin its construction phase at some point before September 1, 2011. This is a great partnership and sends a great message to our local community. Coming in just on the heels of the solar powered stadium at Tempe Town Lake, this is just the kind of momentum we were hoping for at Adair Solar Company in Mesa.

When public sector and state run facilities jump on the solar bandwagon, it becomes more and more recognized, it helps homeowners and consumers understand that it isn’t some energy gimmick–it is the future of the energy industry. And to borrow a cliche (if we may,) the future is now!

We hope that SRP will get together another project like this one–how about the Scottsdale Quarter? Now that’s ready-made for solar energy! Here’s to hoping–and here’s to inspiring all of you AZ inhabitants to go solar soon!

Let us tell you about the solar energy options for your Phoenix home–we’ve been installing solar equipment for 34 years in Arizona, so we know a thing or two about giving you the best service, the best products, and the best solar installations in the valley!

rooftop solar panel in PhoenixAccording to a recent press release from PR Newswire, an Arizona apartment complex has taken the solar plunge. PR Newswire notes, “Owners of Pietra Luxury Apartments has just completed the installation of a 47,000 watt solar array which is generating power throughout the common areas of the community, such as the leasing office, pool area and club house. The investment is expected to save approximately 75% on energy expenses.”

WOW! Finally, solar panels in Arizona aren’t just for residential single family homes and some commercial spaces, it is now being used to power apartments–where enormous chunks of our Arizona population reside.

When you think of the numbers of people displaced by home foreclosures, you come to understand that the numbers of families moving into apartment complexes in Arizona is rising. Not only that, but those numbers will continue to grow as the housing bubble continues to implode.

So, for solar energy to reach these people is to reach a demographic that has been displaced–and whose homes are sitting vacant until the banks can sell them. Think of this: How effective can solar panels in Phoenix be if they are sitting on top of a foreclosed home that no one is living in? It just makes good common sense to begin to install rooftop solar panels on apartment complexes anywhere there is enough sun to make it worthwhile–and Arizona is just such a place.

We really hope that the Pietra Luxury Apartments solar array sets off a new trend for apartment complexes all over the Valley of the Sun. Good work and go be trendsetters!
