Do Solar Panels in Phoenix Work Better in Summer?
Filed under Arizona energy consumption, energy company, Phoenix solar power, solar energy, SRP, UncategorizedJun 30Well, we blogged once before several months ago about whether or not solar panels and/or solar water heaters freeze in the winter, or have a lower efficiency level. We uncovered this as a myth, not a fact or anywhere close to a fact
So many people wonder whether or not the opposite is true during the hot, hot summer months. Do solar panels in Phoenix work better in the summertime? Well, not really. One thing you might compare it to is this: When you use APS or SRP as your energy provider, you have the option to level out what you pay each month. For example, when it’s extremely hot outside, your a/c can cause your bill to skyrocket, while during the cooler months your bills are lower. For this reason, energy providers give you the option to average out your 12-month cycle so you pay around the same amount every month regardless of season or weather variables.
A solar panel installation in Phoenix works relatively the same for homeowners–because even when it’s cooler outside the sun is generally still shining, and even when there is heavy cloud coverage, the sun shines through to rooftops and photovoltaic cells in Phoenix are still able to strongly harness that energy.
So, all that said, if you were using cold or hot weather as an excuse to not invest in solar panels or a solar water heater in Phoenix, the jig is up! You’re all out of excuses, especially when you consider that Adair Solar Company in Phoenix offers amazing package deals on complete solar systems, including radiant barrier insulation AND preventative air conditioning maintenance, as well as K-VAR to lower your monthly energy use.
If you’re ready to take advantage of some amazing solar tax credits and solar tax rebates, call Adair Solar Company in Phoenix for your free in-home consultation. We’ll show you how saving can be relieving–watching your monthly electricity bill go down is actually at least as fun as a good game of Twister!

Many homeowners have been misinformed about the efficiency of solar panels installed on older homes, so we wanted to take this opportunity to set the record straight!
For starters, an older home is likely to more inefficient. So that can only mean good things when it comes to installing solar panels and/or a solar water heater in Mesa or Phoenix on your aging abode.
In addition to this, Adair Solar offers radiant barrier insulation, so if you’ve been considering ways to affordably retrofit your home to get more bang for your utility buck, this is one excellent way to accomplish that. For example, if you’ve been thinking of buying new “Pink Panther” type insulation, a radiant barrier is much better fit, as it deflects the light and subsequently heat from your sun-soaked Arizona home.
And as if that weren’t enough of an incentive, Adair Solar Company in Mesa serves the entire Phoenix Metro area with a package deal that includes preventative a/c maintenance, which will make your older Arizona home far more efficient.
So consider this: getting a package deal on a complete solar system from Adair Solar Company in Mesa essentially means you ARE retrofitting your older home. Other items we would recommend you consider would be double or triple-paned windows, and new door jamb insulation, which costs about $5 at Home Depot or Lowe’s.
Call us today for a FREE in-home consultation on a complete solar system in Phoenix. We serve Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler, Phoenix, Scottsdale, San Tan, Queen Creek, and beyond!

Well, it’s been more than a month now since the absolutely devastating and tragic tornado event in Joplin, MO and the surrounding areas of the South and middle America. But from many tragedies, wonderful flowers can blossom, and here is a story of just such an event in our great nation.
A press release from Reuters tells us, “A key player is Greensburg GreenTown, a nonprofit organization that promotes green projects and gives tours. The town boasts the most LEED-certified buildings, a recognized system of measuring green projects, per capita in America.”
So, to be sure, Joplin and it’s new slogan, “Stronger. Better. Greener.” tells us that Joplin and the area surrounding it have been walking the green walk since before this devastation came to town.
The best news that has come from this is that Joplin and Greensburg have solid, concrete plans to make the city more livable again as it rebuilds using solar energy as well as new plans to use wind energy as well.
We at Adair Solar Company in Mesa truly hope that if such a terrible disaster were ever to hit us here in Arizona that our community would banned together to work toward any efforts that would use solar energy and other renewable resources to bounce back in as positive a way as possible given the circumstances.
That said, as of right now, the Phoenix Metro Area is doing a pretty great job of making solar energy in Phoenix a priority. We’re proud of our community and love to support solar in Mesa and beyond.

Filed under Phoenix solar power, Solar InstallJun 22
Well, more great news for solar energy in the Phoenix Metro Area. Up until a couple of weeks ago, residential homes and local businesses that had solar panel installations in Chandler, AZ were not permitted to have them if they were visible to neighbors. This meant that the solar panels and other solar equipment could not be in a backyard or in the area behind a commercial facility within Chandler city limits. Well, new legislation has changed that. While the legislation still requires that homeowners and owners of solar panels and arrays on other structures still maintain a low profile for their equipment, this new legislation will open the door for many Chandler residents to finally be able to consider solar panels without worrying about breaking city codes. This will energize the Chandler solar market and give whole new incentive to Chandler residents. Those residents who have been aware of the solar tax credits and rebates who have not yet been able to take advantage of them now have the leeway to finally start saving by using solar energy in Chandler.

According to a recent press release from Reuters, the cost of production and manufacture of solar panels is down in 2011 and the trend tells us it will likely stay on the downturn for a while, so this is great news.
While we’re not exactly sure when the lowered production cost would have a positive trickle-down effect for solar panels in Phoenix and the surrounding area, we sure like the sound of lower prices as both a small local business and a service provider.
So now the question is, why was there a decrease in the cost of making solar panels in the first place? Well the answer is a simple matter of economics: the demand for solar panels in the United States and across the globe DOUBLED in 2010 from any time in prior history of solar energy. This is a wonderful sign that energy consumers, home onwers, and corporations that own commercial space are on the right track. Moving toward solar at lightening speed is sure to make solar panels and other solar equipment like solar hot water heaters in Mesa and beyond sell like hotcakes!
Take these facts and a dash of federal and state solar tax credits and rebates and you have a sure recipe for Valley homeowners to get solar equipment at little to no cost, enabling them to save unprecedented amounts of money on their utilities bills.
When it comes to cooling your home during the Arizona summer, anyone who lives in a home here and pays the bills can tell you it’s probably more painful to get the bill than it is to withstand the heat!

According to a recent article from Narooma News, “By replacing an electric water heater with a green-friendly solar hot water system, residents can enjoy reduced household energy consumption of up to 65-75 per cent.”
Narooma news also indicates that around a quarter of average household energy consumption comes from electric water heaters…and that’s only accounting for the electricity they use, not the gas they use to actually heat the water. So conservatively imagine: if your average monthly electricity bill was $100, you can expect to see your first bill after a solar water heater installation in Phoenix drop to $75. Now THAT is improvement that makes paying bills a lot less painful!
So, especially with solar tax credits and rebates available from both the state of Arizona and the federal government, why would you wait to install a solar water heater in Phoenix? You can have it installed at little to no cost in most cases, and the solar water heaters we offer often come in a package deal that also includes preventative air conditioning maintenance and radiant barrier insulation that will both also help you save a tremendous amount of money on your utilities bills, especially where cooling your house in Arizona summer comes into play.
When you get a free in-home consultation from Adair Solar Company in Mesa, AZ you will be shown exactly how all the solar equipment works, and you will also find out your eligibility for solar tax rebates and solar credits–so you’ll know exactly how much you can expect to pay–if anything at all.

Well, it’s that time of year again! [SIZZLE]
Today we hit 105 in the Valley of the Sun, and even higher temperatures outside of the metro area. What’s keeping you cool? Your pool? The A/C? The car? Going to the store or the mall when you don’t really need to?
Arizonans have a knack for beating the heat any way they can. But until pretty recently, they’ve been doing it the old fashioned way–but now desert dwellers have more options when it comes to powering their homes, cooling down, and saving money too.
Adair Solar Company in Mesa offers solar panels that will dramatically reduce your utilities bills. And here’s another tidbit: Most home owners are not aware that gas water heaters DO use electricity in addition to the gas they use to keep the water warm. And that’s why solar water heaters in Phoenix makes sense.
So by now you’ve already started shaking your head, saying, “Yeah, I’d love to have solar panels and a solar water heater, but who can afford all that and the cost of installing it?”
Easy. For most home owners in the Phoenix metro area, solar tax credits and solar rebates are available for both equipment and installation. In addition, you may also qualify for credits and/or rebates for radiant barrier insulation, preventative A/C maintenance, and more.
Are you tired of fighting yourself when you want to lower the A/C by one or two degrees? Feeling guilty about the cost or the negative impact it could have on the environment? You need to check out your solar options and find out once and for all it’s not science fiction or some futuristic impossibility. It’s here and it’s waiting for you!

If you’ve lived through a single Arizona summer, you can attest to the fact that calling it a dry heat doesn’t make any difference when the bills roll in. If you own a home, then you know how scary even looking at the a/c unit can be as May ends and the sizzle begins… and lasts until September!
Instead of dreading the bill, look forward to seeing how much you saved every month by having your a/c maintenanced for preventative care. Adair Solar Company in Mesa offers a/c maintenance in Mesa and the rest of the Phoenix Metro Area. As part of a package we offer, you will receive radiant barrier insulation to keep the heat out, a solar water heater to raise efficiency, and a/c maintenance to bring the cool in–effectively!
One of the biggest issues with broken or out-of-date air conditioning units is leaking freon into the area surrounding the unit and the home itself. Not only is this extremely costly, it is very, very bad for the environment and one of the main causes of unnecessary emissions of pollution into the air we breathe. The only way to keep this from happening to your air conditioner is to have it maintained. We recommend having this done once every six months–once before the onset of summer, and once before the onset of winter.
When you’re ready to discuss your preventative a/c maintenance, solar water heater, or radiant barrier in Phoenix with an Adair Solar representative, just give us a call for a free in-home consultation at (480) 827-1162. Solar tax credits and tax rebates on solar equipment can make it possible for you to install on your home at little to no cost. Let us tell you how when you call in.

“Solar with a Purpose: Innovation, Education, Generation.” is the new tagline for the city of Yuma, AZ. We’re so happy to announce that an enormous step forward for the world of solar and for the reputation of solar energy in Arizona.According to ABC affiliate Channel 15′s new article from Allison Miller, “Arizona Western College in Yuma recently broke ground on a one-of-a-kind solar project. The community along with APS, PPA Partners, and Rosendin Electric are celebrating after years of preparation and development. Jonathan Postal, Senior Vice President of Main Street Power tells us, ‘in essence, every light bulb, every air conditioning during the day will be powered by solar power.’ That is enough energy to power over 600 homes every year!”
This is as close to zero energy homes in Arizona that we’ve ever come. In terms of entire residential and commercial structures being completely powered by solar energy in Arizona, this is a huge step forward in the world of deep green homes.
Don’t know what a deep green home is? It is a home that is constructed using materials manufactured with the environment and the ability to be repurposed, no artificial product used in construction, the use of solar panels, heaters, green paint, and often wind power if available.
But moving toward solar energy on this kind of scale is good for finances from the consumer to the city, and beyond. Now that’s talking green! If you’re ready to green up with a solar water heater company in Phoenix, give Adair Solar Company in Mesa a call! (480) 827-1162
We support Yuma wholeheartedly and we hope zero energy homes and deep green living becomes a reality in Arizona in the very near future.

According to a recent survey and study conducted by IMS Research, somewhere in the neighborhood of 21 Giga Watts (GW) or more of photovoltaics will be installed over several different markets before 2012 hits. This is a dramatic increase and proves that solar energy in Phoenix and beyond is something that is taking hold in a HUGE way. So what’s causing the big bang in solar energy this year?
Well, a lot of it has to do with the availability of solar tax rebates and solar tax credits in Phoenix and other areas of the United States. In addition, the makers of photovoltaic cells and other solar equipment, including solar water heaters in Phoenix and other regions are increasing the production of solar equipment for solar installs.
So which came first, the chicken or the egg? Was it the demand for solar energy that caused the producers of solar equipment to start making more product, or has it been that because producers of solar equipment have ramped up production, thus increasing availability and visibility of solar energy options?
Well, the answer to the question is essentially both. In some regions, the visibility of solar options has become more part of the consumer landscape since the onset of 2011. Conversely, in other regions, consumers who are already aware of the tremendous benefits of solar have collectively spoken up, making their demand for solar energy obvious, and production of solar equipment increased. Hence, more solar system installations in Phoenix and other parts of the country.
All in all, no matter which came first, we at Adair Solar Company in Phoenix like the chicken AND the egg! To get started on your solar system installation in Phoenix, call Adair today for a free in-home consultation! (480) 827-1162
